Why:

For a customer acquisition initiative leveraging wine ecommerce

Naked Wines, the fast-growing online wine retailer and crowdfunding group for small, talented winemakers, was looking for a way to appeal to wine drinkers who did not yet buy from them. Recognising the benefits of Packamama’s packaging (then Garçon Wines) in an ecommerce and home delivery space, Naked Wines ran a novel customer acquisition initiative. This involved offering selected Angels (subscribers) the opportunity to gift a friend with an eco-flat wine bottle filled with a smooth and sumptuous medal-winning Cabernet Sauvignon, a Carménère blend from one of Chile’s most iconic winemakers. The aim was to support Naked Wines to grow their loyal UK customer base beyond then 200,000 regular wine drinkers.

Core to the initiative was the use of Packamama’s innovatively shaped, 100% recycled PET bottles because of their shatterproof and letterbox-friendly nature.  Working with Packamama, Naked Wines were also able to use a bespoke letterbox-friendly delivery box, labelled with their branding and messaging.  This packaging choice ensured that the gift arrived safely and seamlessly on the doormat with no breakages, in a way which would pleasantly surprise the recipient.

“We are excited to partner with [Packamama]. With [Packamama’s] letterbox-friendly bottles, we can now offer our customers a new way to send gifts and introduce their friends to Naked with a bottle direct to their doormat”, said Naked Wines then Chief Operating Officer, Laura Rosenberger.
